If a client employs any staff, this insurance is compulsory under the Employer’s Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969. It protects the client if they’re found liable for the injury or illness of an employee. It covers recruitment agencies’ own staff and the personnel they supply, up to £10,000,000 per claim with no excess.

Public liability insurance protects clients if they are found liable for accidental injury to members of the public and third parties while in the course of their business activities, and for damage to property owned by the public and third parties. It extends to include the vicarious liability of the personnel supplied by a recruitment agency client. Up to £1,000,000 of cover per claim.

Driver’s negligence insurance covers clients for damage caused to their clients’ vehicles when it can be proven that the cause of the damage was the negligence of the temporary driver supplied by your client. Under certain contracts, clients clients may make them liable in respect of damage caused by the negligence of temporary drivers.

Professional indemnity insurance covers clients defence costs and any resulting damages awarded if allegations are made against their business. It covers negligent acts, errors or omissions, or for breach of professional duty in the recruitment process, up to £1,000,000 per claim.

(This is only available as an extension to the professional indemnity policy.) Fidelity bonding insurance is often required if a client is involved in the supply of drivers or warehousemen. It provides cover against the proven dishonest acts of temporary staff supplied by your client.

This will cover costs arising from any civil or criminal actions against them, including financial mismanagement and breach of company, tax and environmental laws. Actions can arise even after they leave the company or retire.

This all-risks property damage insurance covers loss or damage to property (including glass) which belongs to your client’s recruitment business. Business interruption cover, arising from a loss of income or increased running costs, is also included. Cover can be extended to include acts of terrorism, computer breakdown, buildings, portable electronic equipment, increased cost of working and loss of revenue.

Medical malpractice is professional negligence by a health care provider that deviates from the accepted norms of medical practice: designed for agencies involved in carrying out risk assessments, as well as care assessment by qualified staff employed by the agency. It can also be used for agencies who place nurses that aren't qualified and domiciliary care placements where risk assessments are involved.
